CUSTOM PENDANTS DESIGNED FOR YOU
Every Custom Pendant We Make Begins With a Story. What's Yours?
Whether you come to us with a sketch, a photo, a stone you've been holding onto, or just a feeling you can't quite put into words yet, we'll help you turn it into something real. Every pendant we make is designed from scratch and built to order — no catalog, no off-the-shelf settings dressed up as custom.
Here are some of the benefits of working with The Custom Jeweler for your pendant project.
All of our work is done in solid gold or platinum, using conflict-free diamonds and ethically sourced gemstones.
We work directly with our stone suppliers, which means better selection, better pricing, and no middleman markup passed on to you.
What you'd pay at a traditional retail jeweler for a comparable piece typically covers a significant portion of the retail overhead — our model is different. You're paying for the piece, not the storefront.
If you have a loose stone, an heirloom you want to reimagine, or diamonds from a piece you no longer wear, we can design around what you already have. That conversation starts at your consultation and shapes everything that follows.
Our studio is based in Midtown Manhattan at 2 West 45th Street. We work with clients across the country — the full design and approval process happens remotely for most, with CAD renderings shared at every stage so you know exactly what you're getting before production begins. Finished pieces ship free via FedEx two-day delivery.
Custom Pendants FAQs
Can I add engraving or a personal message to my custom pendant?
Yes — and it's one of the details that can make a pendant unique. Whether it's a date, initials, a short phrase, or a symbol that means something to you, we can incorporate it into the design itself or add it to the back of the piece. It's worth bringing up early in the process so we can plan for it, but if you decide later on, we'll do our best to accommodate it.
What metal options are available for a custom pendant?
We work with all the major precious metals, including 14K and 18K yellow, white, and rose gold, as well as platinum. The right choice depends on your skin tone, your preference, the stones you're using, and how you plan to wear it. Our team will walk you through the options during your consultation and help you pick what works best for your design and your budget.
Can I use my own diamond or gemstone in a custom pendant?
Absolutely. If you have a stone you'd like to set — whether it's a diamond you already own, something you have inherited, or something you've sourced yourself — we're happy to work with it. We'll evaluate the stone and design a setting that complements it perfectly. It's a great way to give a meaningful piece a second chance.
Are custom pendants more expensive than buying one from a store?
Not at all. Custom doesn’t have to mean costly. By working directly with us, you receive luxury craftsmanship, American-made quality, and a pendant designed just for you—often at a price comparable to or better than traditional retail.
How long will it take to receive my custom pendant?
Most pendants are completed within two to three weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and materials chosen. We’ll give you a timeline upfront and keep you updated throughout the process.
What types of pendants can you create?
We craft everything from simple diamond or gemstone solitaires to detailed, symbolic designs. Whether you want something timeless, modern, or completely one-of-a-kind, we’ll help you bring it to life.
Can I design a pendant even if I don’t have a finished idea?
Yes! Many customers come to us with just a theme, a gemstone, or even a special occasion in mind. Our team will work with you to refine your vision and create a design that feels truly personal.

Custom Pendant Styles We Design
A pendant is one of the most personal pieces of jewelry you can own — it sits close to you, it's visible every day, and it usually means something. The style you choose shapes the stone selection, the setting, how it hangs, and how it works with a chain. All of our pendants are crafted in solid gold — yellow, white, or rose — or platinum. Here's what we design most often.
Diamond Pendants The most requested style, and the one with the most variation underneath it. A solitaire diamond pendant in a simple bezel or prong setting is a classic that doesn't date. A more elaborate design — pave-set halo, geometric frame, east-west orientation — changes the character entirely. We work through stone shape, setting style, and your choice of gold or platinum together so the finished piece feels cohesive rather than assembled from parts.
Gemstone Pendants Sapphires, emeralds, rubies, and morganites are all popular choices for clients who want color at the center. Gemstone pendants work well as birthstone pieces, anniversary gifts, or simply when a client has a stone they've always loved and wants to wear it. We source stones directly and can show you options at a range of sizes and price points before anything is committed to design. Set in 14k or 18k gold, or platinum — whichever suits the stone and your preference.
Halo Pendants A center stone surrounded by a ring of smaller diamonds. The halo adds visual size and presence without requiring a larger center stone, which makes it a practical design choice as much as an aesthetic one. Available in yellow, white, or rose gold, and platinum. Works especially well with round, oval, and cushion-cut centers.
Initial & Letter Pendants Straightforward in concept, but the execution matters a lot. A plain gold initial in a clean font reads very differently from a diamond-encrusted script letter in platinum. We design both, and everything in between. Popular as gifts — they're personal without requiring the recipient to be involved in the design process.
Cross Pendants A consistent request, and one where the design range is wide. Thin and minimalist in 14k yellow gold, substantial and diamond-set in platinum — the cross is one of those forms that works across a lot of different aesthetics. We approach it the same way we approach any design: starting from what you actually want to wear, not a catalog version of what it should look like.
Memorial Pendants Designed around loss or remembrance — a stone from a parent's ring, a birthstone representing someone who's passed, an engraved date or name on the back. These pieces are crafted in gold or platinum like everything else we make, and they require more conversation than a standard design. If you have something meaningful you want to incorporate, bring it up early in the consultation and we'll talk through what's possible.
Birthstone Pendants One of the most searched pendant categories, and for good reason — a birthstone pendant is specific to the person receiving it in a way that most jewelry isn't. We design single-stone and multi-stone birthstone pendants in 14k or 18k gold or platinum, the latter popular for mothers who want each child's stone represented in one piece. Any month, any stone, any setting style.
Diamond Cut Grades: How Sparkle + Cut Shape Your Custom Design
The way a diamond is cut has the biggest impact on how it looks in real life—its sparkle, brightness, and overall personality. Here’s how each cut grade plays into your custom ring, pendant, or earring design.

Exceptional brilliance and fire with even, bright light return from every angle.
Clean, crisp sparkle that looks lively in all lighting—perfect for center stones.
Clients who want the most radiant look and prioritize cut quality.

Strong brilliance and fire with only minor differences from Excellent to the naked eye.
Beautiful, lively sparkle that performs very well in everyday lighting.
Custom pieces where you want a balance of high performance and budget flexibility.

Noticeable sparkle with some areas of darkness or reduced light return.
Still attractive, especially in smaller stones or designs with multiple diamonds.
Accent stones, pavé, or clients who prefer to prioritize size over top-tier cut.

Limited brilliance; the diamond can appear slightly dull or flat.
Less “wow” factor, especially in larger sizes or center stones.
Only specific design situations where cut is less visible and budget is primary.

Dull appearance with obvious dark areas and minimal fire.
Often looks smaller and less lively than its carat weight suggests.
Generally not recommended for custom fine jewelry at The Custom Jeweler.
